It felt like Christmas opening my box from Bumblewood of products to review. Maybe it’s my very pregnant body begging to be pampered or maybe it’s just the fact that the packing is just too darn cute. Either way, these would make great Christmas gifts and would be perfect to have on hand as the weather gets colder and dryer. Christmas is less than 100 days away btw…not to scare you.
As you know, I’m always on the lookout for quality skin care products that don’t contain yucky ingredients AND don’t cost a fortune. When I stumbled on Bumblewood and saw how affordable their lovely soaps and skin care items where I knew I had to try them out.
Bumblewood is a family run business that was started when Meg and Ben had their twins in the NICU and wanted a chemical free option for their skin care products. You can read a little bit more about them and their story here.
You won’t find anything synthetic in their soaps or skin care products. All their scents are achieved using essential oils, herbs and spices so they’re perfect for those with sensitive skin.
I love this post on their blog about what they mean by all natural. As many of you know, all natural is just a phrase thrown around by a lot of people and doesn’t really mean something. But when Bumblewood says “all natural” they mean it it literally doesn’t contain anything that doesn’t occur in nature.
Meg from Bumblewood generously sent me several goodies to review for you guys. A body butter, Spa Bar, Lotion Bar and then she sent me samples of her lip balm and shaving bar. Keep reading for a review on each of them.
The Body Butter
I chose the Sweet Dreams Body Butter scent to review and boy does it smell heavenly. I’m pretty sensitive to smells right now and I love how this one isn’t over powering. It’s a pleasant combination of vanilla and lavender, a perfect blend of relaxation in a jar.
This is a body butter and VERY moisturizing so it took a little while to absorb into the skin, but it wasn’t overly greasy. The consistency is like a yummy frosting with all the Shea Butter, almond, olive and vitamin E oil whipped up together. These sweet little body butters cost $10 for a 2.4 oz jar. Well worth it if you ask me!
If you’ve never tried a lotion bar before, they’re awesome! I keep mine in my purse because I don’t have to worry about them melting all over the place. Basically it’s a little bar of lotion that melts as you apply it over your skin. It’s just enough to moisturize but not too much. I really like the lotion bar for use during the day because it absorbed fairly quickly into my skin.
I chose the Lemongrass as my scent and I’m in love with it, especially since it’s not too overpowering. It reminds of walking through a little herbal garden or sipping a cup of warm lemon tea. And at only $6 a bar ($4 if you get one on Clearance), I may just have to try a couple other scents too.
When I read the description of the Spa Bar, I really wanted to try it out. Granted browsing through the Bumblewood soap section of the website makes it really hard to choose just one because they all sound so yummy. I mean come on…Chocolate Swirl, Cinnamon Coffee Scrub, and Mountain Retreat just sound wonderful, don’t they? And there are whole bunch of fun seasonal ones coming out soon for Fall.
Anyway, back to the Spa Bar. It contains Pink Sea Salt, coconut, castor and olive oils to help nourish your skin. The tiny little flecks of pink sea salt give it a little bit of exfoliation and all those oils are wonderfully moisturizing. Even though this bar is unscented, it still smelled so good (probably what good soap is supposed to smell like). Consensus: It was lovely!
I was sent a sample of the lip balm and love it too. Her regular size tubes look just like like the picture below.

There are so many yummy lip balms to choose from, but at $2 a piece, you can grab more than one to try out. All of the Bumblewood lip balms are made of a combination of Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, vitamin E and essential oils to provide a long lasting, semi glossy hydration to your lips. I’m not sure how to elaborate on that one other than I found that statement to be true.
Close Shave was another one I really wanted to try. I don’t spend money on shaving cream and usually just use a bar of soap to shave my legs. Close Shave is a made with Shae Butter, Olive, coconut, and castor oils and Bentionite clay to give you a nourishing lather that allows for the closest shave.
I have to say I was huge fan of this one and will probably be buying a full size bar. It lathered up so nicely and left my skin feeling so, so soft afterwards. I’m a little sad that Jordan usually uses an electric razor because I would totally get him a bar of this too.
