One of the downsides of living far away from family is that we’ve got the travel to see them.
It’s getting a little bit easier to travel, especially now that we can throw snacks back at the kids anytime we hear “she’s looking out my window” or other such complaints.
Combined with an audio book and leaving around nap time, the majority of our 3 hour drive isn’t too bad.
Unfortunately, a lot of snacks for these long car rides are either a) super unhealthy or b) leave a pile of crumbs big enough to feed your kid for a week under their cars eats (just us?).
So when I find something that is both a healthy snack and one that doesn’t leave crumbs, I kinda feel like I need to share it with you.
I received several of the flavors free from Mom’s Meet in return for my honest review, so we just did a major taste testing of Veggie-Go’s on our last trip to go visit Jordan’s family.
Here’s what I’m loving about them:
- They’re organic
- Don’t have any added sugar and have the lowest sugar content of all fruit snack brands
- They have 1 serving of whole fruits & veggies
- Gluten free (they also don’t contain dairy, but are processed in a facility that processes milk)
- AND THEY DON’T MAKE A MESS (you can’t see my happy dance, but I’m doing one)
My kids loved just about everything, but I’ll break down some of the flavors for you because some are better than others (in my opinion anyway).
As far as the Veggie-Go Strips, we especially loved the Berry, Apple + Spinach (I couldn’t taste the spinach) and the Sweet Potato, Apple + Spices (tasted like cinnamon apple).
The only one my kids weren’t a fan of was the Carrot, Apple + Ginger Veggie-Go Strips. They said it was too spicy (it tasted like fresh ginger) but I personally didn’t mind it.
And I will say I that the Beet, Apple + Cinnamon flavor tasted more like beets than apple or cinnamon to me.
The Veggie-Go Bites were a huge hit because my kids love fruit snacks.
The Strawberry, Chia +Beets were super tasty as were the Orange, Cocoa Nibs +Carrots. I didn’t particularly care for the Berry, Rice Crisps + Greens, but to each their own.
Next time you’re needing a quick snack to tame the savage, fighting beasts in your backseat, maybe these will help.
What do you like to have on hand for road trips when it comes to snacks?
