The one that just keeps coming to me for this year is Rejoice.

I’m not even sure what my word for 2018 entails, but I’m going to go with it.
Rejoice just sounds so much happier than surrender, doesn’t it?
I guess we do have a baby coming this year and that will be something to rejoice about. This pregnancy will be over, which again, will be something to rejoice over. I’ll hopefully be able to eat a more varied diet again later this year.
Or maybe I need to learn to rejoice in the little things, the suffering?
Maybe a lot of the things I’ve been struggling with will resolve.
As I think through it, I almost wonder why my word isn’t gratitude. When I think of rejoicing about these things, I think of gratitude. Being grateful for my kids and this baby and so many other things.
But maybe there’s a reason it isn’t gratitude. Maybe we’ll have a lot of things to rejoice this upcoming year….like all our student loans disappearing! Ha! I doubt that one, but I’d totally rejoice that one.
So we’ll see what God has in store in terms of the word rejoice.
Do you do a word of the year? What’s yours? Do you always know what your word entails, like goals you’re working towards?
